Kilmallock

Market town in County Limerick, Republic of Ireland, situated on the River Loobagh, 32 km/20 mi southeast of Limerick; population (2002) 1,360. Kilmallock grew round a 7th-century monastery and was an important town from the 14th to the 16th century; it has a variety of Anglo-Norman remains, including a Norman tower castle, and a 13th-century Dominican friary.

Just northwest of Kilmallock, at Tankardstown South, is the site of the earliest known Neolithic dwelling in Ireland, excavated in 1986.
