Kilmer, Joyce (1886-1918)

US poet. His first collection of poems Summer of Love was published 1911. He later gained an international reputation with the title work of Trees and Other Poems 1914.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA, Kilmer was educated at Rutgers and Columbia universities. Working briefly as a high school teacher, he moved to New York and worked in a variety of publishing jobs while pursuing his own literary career. At the outbreak of World War I, Kilmer joined the 165th Regiment and was killed in action in France.
