kinesiology, applied

In alternative medicine, an extension of chiropractic developed in the USA in the 1960s and 1970s, principally by US practitioner George Goodheart. Kinesiology, or muscle testing, relates to the Chinese principle that there exist energy pathways in the body and that disease results from local energy blockages or imbalances. Goodheart developed both diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, working on the body's musculature, which are used particularly with stress-related ailments.
