King, Robert (lived 17th-18th centuries)

English composer. He joined the royal band in 1680 on the death of John Banister, received a licence to give concerts in 1689, and took a degree in music at Cambridge University in 1696.

incidental music for Crowne's Sir Courtly Nice and many other plays; Shadwell's Ode on St Cecilia's Day, Motteux's Ode for John Cecil, Earl of Exeter; many songs for one and more voices.
