King County

County in west-central Washington, bordered to the west by Puget Sound; area 5,512 sq km/2,128 sq mi; population (1990) 1,507,300. Its capital is Seattle. There are many industries in the capital; other economic activities include lumbering, coalmining, market gardening, and livestock and dairy ranching.

It is Washington's most populous county and is dominated by Seattle, its suburbs, and satellite cities such as Bellevue, Renton, and Auburn in the west. Also in the west are Vashon and Maury islands, in Puget Sound. The county includes part of Snoqualmie National Forest and the Snoqualmie River.

MetroPaint is one of the only operations in the Northwest that is recycling latex paint and making a recycled latex paint product, according to a press release from the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks.
The 2005 Forest Management Award went to Hancock Timber Resource Group (HTRG), King County, Washington for its Snoqualmie Forest Development Rights Sale project in King County, a collaborative effort between HTRG and the Cascade Land Conservancy.
In the past year, LinkUp surveys show, program partners have used more than 630,000 tons of recycled materials, nearly two-thirds of which originated in King County.
