Kings Point

Community in North Hempstead town, southeastern New York State, at the tip of the Great Neck peninsula on Long Island's northern shore; population (1990) 4,800. It is an affluent suburb with a number of large estates.

The US Merchant Marine Academy (1942) is located here, on the former estate of industrialist Walter Chrysler. The peninsula was the model for ‘West Egg’ in F Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby (1925).
