Kingsley, Sidney

Kingsley, Sidney (1906-1995)

US playwright. His first play, Men in White (1933), won a Pulitzer Prize. As with the bulk of his work, it explored serious themes relating to contemporary society. Among his other plays was Detective Story (1949), which was filmed by William Wyler in 1951. Kingsley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
