Kiphuth, Robert (John Herman) (1890-1967)

US physical educator. Perhaps the greatest swimming coach in history, Kiphuth retired after 41 years at Yale University with a 528-12 dual meet record and 38 eastern intercollegiate and 14 national championships. He also coached US Olympic swimming teams (1928-48). Kiphuth was born in Tonawanda, New York. He was awarded the Medal of Freedom in 1963.
