Kipnis, Igor (1930– )

US harpsichordist. Son of Alexander Kipnis, Kipnis's early career was as a critic and director of a New York radio station. He made his public debut as a harpsichordist in 1962, appeared with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in 1975, and has toured all over the world, Although his large repertory includes contemporary American works by Ned Rorem, Barbara Kolb, George Rochberg and others, he has also taught Baroque performing practice.
