Kirkintilloch

Industrial and commuter town, and administrative headquarters of East Dunbartonshire unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the Forth and Clyde Canal, 11 km/7 mi northeast of Glasgow; population (2001) 29,900. It has iron and steel foundries and a ferro-concrete works, and also manufactures hosiery and waterproof materials.
