Kirkcudbright

Harbour town and former royal burgh in Dumfries and Galloway unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the mouth of the River Dee, 40 km/25 mi southwest of Dumfries; population (2001) 3,450. It was the administrative centre of the former county of Kirkcudbright, and contains the remains of a 13th-century church and a 16th-century mansion, Maclellan's Castle.
