Kirkwood

Kirkwood

City in east-central Missouri, 21 km/13 mi southwest of downtown St Louis; population (1990) 27,300. A residential suburb, it also manufactures cement, lime, lumber products, fabrics, and processed foods.

It was founded in 1853 after the arrival of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Meramec Community College is located here.
