Kirriemuir

Small town and agricultural centre in Angus unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the Gairie Burn, 8 km/5 mi northwest of Forfar; population (2001) 5,960. Its main industry is the manufacture of jute cloth. The town was the birthplace of author and playwright J M Barrie, who wrote Peter Pan.

The house where Barrie was born is now owned by the National Trust for Scotland, and maintained as a museum dedicated to his life and writings.
