Kirsten, Dorothy (1917–1992)

US soprano. After studies at the Juilliard School, New York, and in Rome, Italy, she debuted with the Chicago Opera in 1940 and at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, in 1945, singing her final performance there (as Tosca) in 1975. Among her many outstanding roles was that of Mimi in La Bohème.

Kirsten was born in Montclair, New Jersey.
