Kisling, Moïse

    0.01 sec.

Kisling, Moïse (1891–1953)

Polish-born French painter. Responding first to cubism, he had by the 1920s developed a distinctive style of lyrical expressionism. His Woman in a Polish Shawl 1928 (Musée d'Art Moderne, Paris) is a fine example of his brilliant colouring and well-defined modelling.

Kisling was born in Kraków, and moved to Paris 1910. He served in the Foreign Legion during World War I, and became a French citizen. During World War II he was in the USA.
