Kislovodsk

City and health resort in the Russian Federation, in Stavropol krai (territory), in northern Caucasia; population (1996 est) 120,000. Since the 17th century, it has been the centre of a group of spas famous for their mineral waters (narzan), which are used to relieve digestive, heart, and circulatory conditions.

The dissident Soviet writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn was born in Kislovodsk in 1918.
