Klagende Lied, Das

Cantata by Gustav Mahler (text by composer) for soloists, chorus, and orchestra. The first version was composed in 1880 in three parts: Waldmärchen, Der Spielmann, and Hochzeitstück. It was revised in 1888 with part one omitted, and first performed in Vienna, Austria, on 17 February 1901, conducted by Mahler. The original version was first performed in Vienna on 8 April 1935, conducted by Arnold Rosé.
