Klamath Falls

City and administrative headquarters of Klamath County, southwestern Oregon, at the southern end of Upper Klamath Lake, 24 km/15 mi north of the California border; population (2000) 19,500. It is the major marketing and distribution centre of southern Oregon. Its industries include lumber milling, plywood making, shipbuilding, and the processing of livestock, grain, and potatoes.

The city, settled in 1867, is situated in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, at the source of the Klamath River, and is a gateway to Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, Crater Lake National Park, and Winema National Forest. The Oregon Institute of Technology (1947) is here.

The killer park in Klamath Falls, OR, is on shaky ground after the city, weary of hooky-playing teens using it as a hideout, turned control and management of the facility over to the decrepit city roller rink.
Eli Morris, 19, of Klamath Falls was picked up late Tuesday just after the car his father was driving entered Oregon, Klamath County District Attorney Ed Caleb said on Wednesday.
The Klamath Basin area directly affected encompasses the city of Klamath Falls (20,000 population) and the smaller Oregon towns of Merrill, Keno, Malin and Midland, as well as the California border communities of Tulelake, Hatfield and Tuber.
