Klemin, Alexander

Klemin, Alexander (1888–1950)

English-born US aeronautical engineer. He designed the first US amphibian landing gear in 1921. Klemin headed the Research Department of the Army Air Service in Dayton, Ohio, during World War I and was in charge of the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aeronautics at New York University (1924–41). He was born in London, England, and emigrated to the USA to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1915.
