Kliegl

German-born US brothers who in 1911 invented the brilliant carbon-arc (klieg) lights used in television and films. They also created scenic effects for theatre and film.

John emigrated to the USA 1888, Anton 1892, and in 1896 in New York they formed the Kliegl Brothers Universal Electric Stage Lighting Company.
