Klinsmann, Jürgen (1964– )German footballer who was a member of the West German team that won the 1990 World Cup, and the captain of the German side that won the 1996 European Championships. An athletic centre forward, he made his international debut in 1987. In club football he played for Stuttgart Kickers, VfB Stuttgart, Inter Milan, Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, and Sampdoria. In July 2004, he became manager of the German national side and led them to a third-place finish in the 2006 World Cup. In July 2008 he was appointed manager of Bayern Munich.
