Klobucar, Berislav (1924– )

Croatian conductor. He studied with Clemens Krauss at Salzburg and conducted at the Zagreb Opera 1943–51, at the Vienna Staatsoper from 1953, and at Bayreuth 1968–69. At the same time he worked at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, conducting Der Fliegende Holländer and Die Walküre. Appointments have included that of music director at Graz 1960–71, music director at the Royal Opera, Stockholm 1972–81, and principal conductor of the Nice Opera 1983–89. He has also worked as a guest conductor in Italy, France, and elsewhere.
