knowledge worker

Worker who relies on information in order to carry out their work. Knowledge workers tend to use information technology in their everyday work, work in virtual or local teams, and work with information that provides a competitive advantage. A knowledge worker is in contrast to the traditional manual work who learnt a single skill and then used it over and over to carry out their work.
