Knox County

County in eastern Tennessee; area 1,311 sq km/506 sq mi; population (1990) 335,700. Its capital, Knoxville, dominates the county with its industry and suburbs. In the Great Appalachian Valley, it has produced dairy goods, livestock, tobacco, fruit, corn, hay, marble, bituminous coal, and zinc.

The French Broad and Holston rivers meet here to form the Tennessee River.
