Kohoutek

Comet discovered by Czech astronomer Lubos Kohoutek at the Hamburg Observatory, Germany, in March 1973. It was expected to become extremely bright towards the end of the year. It passed within 21 million km/13 million mi of the Sun on 28 December 1973 but was much fainter than predicted.

After dispensing a few hugs of varying degrees of sincerity, I headed home, taking small comfort in knowing that like the Comet Kohoutek, I probably wouldn't return again for at least 100,000 years.
This planetary nebula is known as Kohoutek 4-55 (or K 4-55).
Most importantly, individuals burned through the 1970s with the haughty grandeur and splashiness falsely predicted of Comet Kohoutek.
