Kollo, René (1937– )

German tenor. He studied in Berlin and made his opera debut in Brunswick in 1965. He has been appearing at Bayreuth since 1969 as Lohengrin, Walther, and Parsifal, and he sang Siegfried in the centenary Ring in 1976. He appeared at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London as Siegmund in 1976, in Salzburg as Walther in 1974, and Lohengrin in New York in 1976 (his Metropolitan Opera House debut). He sang Siegfried at San Francisco in 1990 and Tannhäuser at the Deutsche Oper, Berlin in 1995.
