Kolomna

City in the Moscow oblast (region) of the Russian Federation, 100 km/62 mi southeast of Moscow near the junction of the Moskva and Oka rivers; population (1996 est) 154,000. It is an important engineering centre, producing locomotives, machine tools, and textile machinery.

The towers and walls of a 16th-century citadel (kremlin) remain in Kolomna, along with many interesting churches and other buildings.
