Komarovsky, Mirra (1906–1999)

Russian-born US sociologist. Pioneering research on leisure time and unemployment, she developed the techniques of repeated interviews and the use of selected case histories. Her books include Women in College (1985). Komarovsky was born in Russia and emigrated to the USA as a teenager. She was educated at Columbia University and taught at Barnard College (1938–74).
