Komi-Permiak Autonomous Okrug

District within the Perm oblast (region) of the northwestern Russian Federation; area 32,900 sq km/12,703 sq mi; population (1996) 157,000 (31% urban). The capital is Kudymkar and Usolye is another town. The district is located west of the Urals, and is adjacent to the Komi Republic. Industries include timber; and grain and dairy farming. The region was created in 1925.
