Kopit, Arthur Lee (1937- )

US dramatist whose plays made biting, satirical comment on contemporary American attitudes and values. His plays include the ‘tragifarce’ Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mama's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feeling So Sad (1961), about an over-possessive mother and her rebellious son; And As for the Ladies (1963); The Day The Whores Come Out to Play Tennis (1965); and Indians (1968).
