Kord, Kazimierz (1930- )

Polish conductor. He studied at Leningrad and Kraków. He worked at the Kraków Opera from 1962 and with the Polish Radio Orchestra 1968-73. He appeared at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York in 1972 (conducting The Queen of Spades), and has conducted opera in San Francisco and London (Eugene Onegin at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1976). He has worked as guest conductor with the Chicago Symphony and Cleveland Orchestras, was artistic director National Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw, from 1977, and principal guest conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra 1980-82.
