Koroma, Alhaji Abdul Karim (1945- )

Sierra Leonean diplomat and lawyer, permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) from 1993, and permanent delegate to UNESCO. He was first elected to parliament in 1977, subsequently becoming minister of education, and remaining in the post until 1982. In 1985 he was promoted to foreign minister. In 1994 he became a judge in the International Court of Justice. He was ambassador to Ethiopia and to the Organization of African Unity (OAU; later African Union) in 1988.

He received his higher education in England, where he gained a postgraduate degree in international relations. He is a former ambassador to the EEC.
