Kozeluch (Kotzeluch, Koželuh), Leopold (1747–1818)

Bohemian composer. He was a pupil of his cousin Johann Anton Kozeluch (1738–1814), and studied law at Prague University, but devoted himself entirely to composition from 1771. In 1778 he went to Vienna, Austria, and succeeded Mozart as imperial composer in 1792.

Moisé in Egitto (1787).

11 symphonies; 22 piano concertos and several for other instruments.

6 string quartets, 63 trios; piano sonatas.
