Kraus, Alfredo (1927–1999)

Spanish tenor. He made his debut in Cairo in 1956, as the Duke of Mantua. He performed at La Scala, Milan, and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden from 1959, making his US debut in Chicago in 1962 and his house debut at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York in 1966. His roles include Faust, Nemorino, Werther, Arturo, and Don Ottavio. He returned to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden 1991–92, as Hoffmann and Nemorino.
