Krehbiel, Henry (Edward) (1854-1923)

US music critic and author. After studying law at Cincinnati, he became music critic to the Cincinnati Gazette in 1874 and to the New York Tribune in 1880. He edited Alexander Thayer's life of Beethoven, collected and wrote on African-US folksongs, and wrote many books including studies of opera, Richard Wagner's works, and US musical life.
