Krenn, Werner (1942– )

Austrian tenor. After an early career as a bassoonist he sang in The Fairy Queen in Berlin in 1966. The following year he was heard in the Missa Solemnis at Salzburg, the first of many concerts under Karajan. He appeared at Aix in 1969 as Ottavio. Although he recorded roles in operas by Berg and Shostakovich, he was best known in Mozart: Il rè pastore (Titus), Ascanio in Alba, and Idomeneo.
