Krenz, Jan (1926- )

Polish conductor and composer. He studied in Łódź and worked at Poznán in orchestral and operatic repertory from 1948. His appointments have included those of chief conductor of the Polish Radio Orchestra from 1953 (with which he has toured worldwide), artistic director of the Warsaw Opera 1967-73, and music director of the Bonn Opera 1979-83. He has conducted in England since 1961, working with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Works

Nocturnes for orchestra; Capriccio for 24 instruments; an Antisymphony (1962); and orchestral transcriptions of Bartók's Mikrokosmos and Szymonowski's Myths.
