Kreuznach

City and spa in the Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, on the River Nahe, 15 km/9 mi south of Bingen; population (1994) 154,700. It is a wine-growing centre, and has optical and leather industries. Kreuznach was founded in Celtic times and the castle dates from the 14th century.

In 1817 baths were built here for curing rheumatic complaints.
