Krieger, Johann Philipp (1649–1725)

German organist and composer, brother of Johann Krieger. He travelled in Italy and studied under Johann Rosenmüller in Venice. He then entered the service of the Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels, and was chamber musician and organist at Halle from 1677 and music director at Weissenfels from 1712.

Works

the opera Der grossmütige Scipio (1690) and others; plays with music; church music; arias for one to four voices with instruments; sonatas for violin and viola da gamba; Partien for wind instruments.
