Krommer, Franz (originally Kramář, František Vincenc) (1759-1831)

Moravian violinist, organist and composer. Having been an organist 1776-84, he went to Hungary and later became music director to Prince Grassalkovich in Vienna. In 1818 he succeeded Leopold Kozeluch as court music director.

two masses; music for wind band; symphonies; and 69 string quartets and quintets.
