Krk

Island in the northern Adriatic Sea, in the Bay of Kvarner, off the coast of Croatia; approximate area 440 sq km/170 sq mi; population (2001) 3,400. The chief products are wines and fruit. The capital, also called Krk, has a 13th-century cathedral and many other old buildings.
