Kruskal, Martin David

Kruskal, Martin David (1925– )

US physicist and mathematician. He made advancements in the fields of logic, magnetohydrodynamics, controlled fusion, and relativity. He taught mathematics at New York University (1946–51) before becoming a plasma physicist, astrophysicist, and mathematics professor at Princeton University (1951–89). He joined Rutgers University's mathematics department in 1989. Kruskal was born in New York City.
