Kuan Lin

Chinese goddess of mercy. She embodies all that is merciful, kind, and good, and is also thought to heal and to aid fecundity. She is portrayed as very beautiful, sometimes holding a child in her arms.

Although a Buddhist importation representing the bodhisattva (the embodiment of compassion), Kuan Yin was adopted by Taoism and became a much loved deity.
