Kuerten, Gustavo (1976– )

Brazilian tennis player who won the French Open in 1997 as an unseeded player. His laid-back manner off the court and his explosive one-handed backhand on it made him popular with tennis fans worldwide. He won his second French Open title in 2000, and in the same year he became world number one for the first time.
