Kure

Naval base and port 32 km/20 mi southeast of Hiroshima, on the south coast of Honshu island, Japan; population (1995 est) 209,500. The city has a natural harbour, protected on the seaward side by islands. Industries include pulp, engineering works, and shipyards, which have an important export market.

The largest marine protected area in the world, it spans from Kure Atoll in the west to Nihoa Island in the east.
I have learned that in Lagos today, such garments are highly valued by fashionable women, who regard the accidental patterns on the textiles as unique (Marcia Kure, personal communication, October 25, 2002).
