Kusche, Benno (1916– )

German bass-baritone. He made his debut in Koblenz in 1938, as Renato. He sang in Augsburg during World War II and in Munich from 1946. At his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London in 1953 he sang La Roche, in the first British performance of Capriccio, and at his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, in 1971 he sang Beckmesser.
