Kuter, Lawrence Sherman

Kuter, Lawrence Sherman (1905-1979)

US aviator. A 1927 West Point graduate, he transferred to the Air Corps in 1930 and rose to command a bomber wing in England (1942-43). He held a series of senior commands during the 1950s, including the North American Air Defense Command. He retired in 1962 to become a vice-president of Pan American World Airways, and later, a consultant to the aviation industry. Kuter was born in Rockford, Illinois.
