Kwidzyń

Town in Elbļg province, Poland, near the River Vistula, 72 km/45 mi south of Gdańsk; population (1993 est) 37,700. Formerly in East Prussia, the town was a medieval stronghold of the Teutonic Knights (a German Christian military order). It was assigned to Poland 1945.
