Kyaukse

Town in the Mandalay division of central Myanmar, 35 km/22 mi south of Mandalay on the right bank of the Zawgyi River; population (2001 est) 43,600. Numerous rivers and canals flow through the region, and the chief product is rice. Kyaukse is on the main rail route which runs from Myitkyina in northern Myanmar to Yangon (Rangoon) in the south.
