Läkäran

Port in southeastern Azerbaijan, situated on the Caspian Sea near the Iranian border, and 200 km/124 mi southwest of Baku; population (2006 est) 48,500. Länkäran is the centre of an agricultural area producing rice, citrus fruits, tobacco, tung oil, and tea, and itself has food, fishing, and timber industries.

Läkäran is one of the oldest towns in Azerbaijan. It was the capital of the Talysh khanate under Persia in the 18th century, and became Russian in 1813.
